The 14th Sino-French International Workshop on Contaminated Soil Remediation

The Laboratoire International Associé (LIA) Ecosystem Services provided by Contaminated Land(ECOLAND 1), created in December 2015, was the outcome of a fruitful cooperation around pollutionissues and remediation of soil and water between two laboratories, Laboratoire Sols et Environnement(LSE) of the University of Lorraine (UL) and the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Foodand Environment (INRAE) and the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of

Environmental Pollution Control and Remediation Technology (LEPCRT) of Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU). During thiscooperation, SYSU, UL and INRAE have successfully organized thirteen Sino-French workshops in Chinaand France.Building on its success, the LIA will be expanded to include the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory ofAgricultural & Rural Pollution Abatement and Environmental Safety (LARPAES) of the South ChinaAgricultural University (SCAU). This upcoming workshop will celebrate the start of ECOLAND 2, which isscheduled to be officially signed on 27 October in Guangdong, China.The aim of the 14 th workshop is to present scientific progress on the topics developed in ECOLAND 2 inthe form of talks and poster sessions. During the workshop, time will also be devoted to creating synergieswithin the group and laying the foundations for setting up new joint projects or through joint supervisionof students (masters, theses, post-docs). A round table with all partners involved in the LIA will help todefine the scientific strategy and objectives for the coming year in order to bring the work to a successfulconclusion and contribute to the development of sustainable management strategies for contaminatedsites to support the ecosystem services they provide.
