CNRS Thematic School: “Mineral Resources: the geochemical cycle of metals”
The school took place in Nancy from 2 to 4 October 2018 (Faculty of Science) and covered: (i) metallogenic systems and the crustal cycles of strategic metals and metals of high economic importance, (ii) innovative and eco-responsable recycling of minerals (innovative mineral processing and hydrometallurgy),(iii) agromining (transfer of metals from the soil to plants) and the rehabilitation of former mining sites, and (iv) monitoring and predicting the behaviour of metallic elements in the environment.
Two round table discussions was organised: i) For the mines of the future, what jobs (from exploration to remediation), what developments, and what training will be needed? The 20-year vision, with representatives from training organisations and industry; (ii) societal aspects, notably feedback on consultations in the mining domain.
