Descriptif:

The Mirror Group "Raw Materials", the CNRS (INSU), and the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition are pleased to invite you to a workshop/seminar on Economics and Raw Materials. The fast evolution of technologies and choices concerning the energy transition linked to the reduction of the climatic effects due to the increase in greenhouse gases requires controlling the evolution over time of the needs for raw materials, in particular the so-called "critical" metals necessary for electric car batteries, wind power or photovoltaics but also substances of great economic interest such as base metals (Cu, Al). From these needs come many technical and economic constraints that cover areas ranging from market regulation, to risk assessment, to long-term prediction of material and energy prices. This workshop will include a round table discussion on the research needed to develop this disciplinary interface and to lay the foundations for a call for tenders in the field at the interfaces between the research fields of Geosciences and Economics, to be held in mid-2019 as part of CESSUR-INSU (AAP CNRS-MTES).
